I was wondering what the horsepower rating is for the Junior 101 with a Continental engine? What are the weak points? There appears to be a type of lift system on the housing behind the seat one side of the splined shaft is twisted off!! This is obviously a weak point... is this a type of 3 point hitch? Does it have a trans driven pump? Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks bw

Sounds like the PTO shaft is messed up there at the back. The lift system might be getting hydraulic feed from a pump in a number of places. Obviously, the rear PTO isn't one of them since it's fried. Some hook a pump to the belt pulley shaft (pulley removed). Others have a pump coupled to the front of the crankshaft (behind the grille area). Factory pumps would be on the front right of the engine opposite the governor. I would say about 20 HP or thereabouts assuming you have the 140 or 162 version of that engine. The early ones were 124 cubic inches, same engine though, just a different cylinder bore size. I don't think any Juniors came with a factory rear lift, maybe yours is home made or an aftermarket unit. Follow the hydraulic cylinder lines back and you've got to find the pump.
