MF2805 Stuck in Neutral

We have a MF 2805 witha problem. Last night I went to put it in gear, and the shifter stuck between 5th and 6th gear.

The power shift lever moves up and down freely, but it won't go into reverse. The main shift lever doesn't move at all.

We looked at the shift linkage, but there doesn't appear to be anything we can do with it. The only idea we can come up with is to remove the round plate on the right side of the tranny and see what we find in there.

But that sure would be a pain - There are several hydraulic lines and such hooked up to it.

Is there any other solution?

Had the same problem with my 2745. Could not shift into any gear. This has happened 2x on this tractor. once when new and last year. Both times it was while up shifting while the tractor was moving. Took a mechanic a couple hours to get it going. Had to pull the round plate under the rtside cab. SHifter forks were jammed or jumped out of location.

My 2705 has slipped between shift patterns leaving it in a gear with the shift fork no longer controled by the linkage. I would drain the transmission oil plug and use a large lever thru the plug hole to manually shift the rails and match the linkage position before removing the round cover. Two of the three times this has happened were resolved in a few minutes this way. The cover removal and replacement was major surgery in comparison. You have to drain the oil anyway if you do resort to the round cover, so nothing is really lost except some probing and poking time! Thinking back, the tractor was probably in two gears at the same time when it was pryed back to normal.

Thanks for the info.

I hadn't looked at where the drain plugs were yet.

I've had stuff stick in gear before, but never had one stick in neutral before.
