Massey 20 Battery Box Question

In the process of Re Building a Massey 20 20-GR-3182.
Of course the battery box needs replacing as there is not much left after years of Battery acid.
Trying to determine if the bottom holder 1/8 inch (L shaped plate) was orginally horizontal.
Mine appears to be slanted towards the rear of the tractor.
Was this done to create extra height, clearance for the battery.
This seems odd as I would expect we would want the battery to sit level on the Tractor.
Also are there any replacement battery hold downs available or is it better to make a custom one due to the newer battery sizes???
Thanks

My Colt is angled down towards the rear of the tractor. This is for clearance purposes between the dash and the battery cover I think. 2 places you could check for battery hold downs:

Terry Kessel: tkessel@blazenet.net

Fred Wolfe: wolfefb@tds.net
