I am having trouble finding a hydraulic lift pump or rebuild kit for my TO-35. According to the shop manual mine was used on tractors prior to serial number 179304 (mine is 164559)and none of the parts people I have talked to seem to know anything about it. Does anyone know if the later model pump is interchangeable or have any information that could help me?

If TO35 is the same as the FE35 I think what I learnt doing mine will help. Serial No of my FE is before the number listed for pump repair kits too and I didn't think I could get a kit to repair it. I ended up buying the later pump kit and was able to use it with no problem at all.

What the change is serial number seems to mark is an increase in the size of the pump pistons from 20mm to 23mm. Later pistons won't fit the 20mm valve chambers but if you're getting a complete rebuild kit you will get repalcement valve chambers that suit the 23mm pistons so you can just bolt it all together. Effectively you are upgrading the pump to the 23mm spec. All that happens is that you get a slightly faster oil flow so things lift a bit quicker. The stuff about serial no. seems a bit misleading as it made me think that I couldn't use the kit in my (early) FE when that turned out not to be the case.

I bought the Sparex kit but it shouldn't matter what you get as long as you are changing the valve chambers AND the pistons together.

This is true of the FE35. It MAY be applicable to TO35 too but you might want to investigate a bit first to confirm they are the same.
