I just received a shop manual on my Mf40 and was enjoying reading it when I realized that the entire manual was for a Perkins gas/diesel engine...
Now I am confused....My tractor states MF40 on the decals but the numbers are missing. The only numbers are on the engine block, which state that the engine is a Z134 Continental...Did Massey use both Perkins Gas and Continental Gas engines on the Mf40?
Thanks for all your help

People have been putting Massey Ferguson decals and the Massey Ferguson red/grey paint scheme on Ferguson 40's for years but they didn't come from the factory that way. Hopefully you can return your MF 40 Industrial manual and exchange it for the correct one for your Ferguson 40 (agricultural) tractor.

The "Ferguson" 40 was made in the mid 1950s with the Continental Z134 engine. The MF 40 is a later industrial tractor. I think it is about the same size as the 165 farm tractor.
