I need a little help.Last winter in a heated barn at 55.deg I started the 175 with a 7" two stage snow blower mounted on the three pt. I moved the lever to engage the PTO,it started to spin.I backed out the door in to a 3" snow drift and then the PTO really engaged ,it had only turning by the oil motion in the cluth pack.It sheared the pin in the PTO shaft at the snow blower gear box, which I replaced.I started it up again now there is a loud knock at engine RPM in the case below the gear shift lever and now the draft & 3pt levers don"t work,I raise & lower the 3pt with the hyd. levers in front of the seat,it knocks loud on the left side below the seat like a hyd.dead head when it"s lowered,no knock when raising the 3pt.I also see that the end of the PTO has some runout on it.The transmission locked up after that and would"t move I put in neutral got off and rocked the tires,I heard a click and it was free,it has been parked since.Does any one have any experence like this?Where do I split the cases.I have a manual but the pictures are all blurred. The local dealers have no idea.

Check you haven't broken the dowels which mount the hydraulic pump through from the outside (two ovalish shaped plates with two bolts on each)

Agree with Thomas. Sounds like you have sheared one or both pump dowel pins. On the 175 you will find these plates under the handbrake rod pivot points. Remove the plates and you'll soon see if the pin is broken. Usually when the pins break they break the front plate of the pump as well. If you look inside through the hole you shoul see if the plate is damaged. If it is, the only solution is to remove the hydraulic cover and replace the pump or rebuild it. To do the job properly you will need special tools for removal and setting. It is not advisable to try without. Big Dean's site may be able to give you more info.
