Back in January there was a post about a 245 smoking. Did the person who wrote the post ever find the problem? I've been restoring a couple other tractors and haven't gotten to work on the 245. I'd appreciate any help.

I have a 245 and it smokes a bit when it's cold. Much less after it warms up but there's always a hint of blue. Runs great. Unless it's using a bunch of oil or its making it difficult to breath do what a guy told me--worry about something else!

Good Day: I don't remember seeing the post you mention but i had a 25 diesel that was making a black slurry on the exhaust piping, and a bit of bluish exhaust fumes at times. Actually it was puffing smoke out in a random pattern.
Repair involved changing the thermostat to a 190 degree unit, as the orginal unit had stuck open and i couldn't get enough engine heat to prevent consdation of the exhaust gasses. runs clean now and only smokes when loaded up hard, and , even then its a blackish smoke from overload conditions.
hope it helps.

Thanks Phil,

This one was a bit different. A lot of bluish white smoke when cold. Clearing off somewhat when warm. The post was leaning toward low fuel presure or injector timing or a injector timing problem caused by fuel preasure or lack there of.

Thanks for thge reply.
