I have a Model 65 that has a hydraulic lift snowblower. Would like to maintain it but not sure what kind of oil to use in the hydraulic system. Previous owner told me it is not hydraulic fluid, but a heavy oil. Can someone help? Thanks.
Not even sure how to find a message if someone does respond, so feel free to send something directly to bsbeach@mtu.edu.

With respect to the other posters, I would be concerned to follow the majority of the advice thus given.

The MF-65 has a combined transmission and hydraulic sump. Do not use a hydraulic oil. The MF-65 Manual calls for 90 wt. straight minerial oil. above 50 deg. and 80 wt. below 50 deg. This is Massey PN 1103. Also NAPA PN 65-205.

There are many posts on the MF65 and oil in the last few months. A review of the archives could be inlightening.

I suggest you search this forum for a discussion on the proper oil to use in an MF65. I don't recall the exact Massey part number, but it is 90 weight straight mineral oil. NOT Permatran! In very cold weather, you can use 80 weight. There has been extensive discussion about this on this forum. You would do well to read some of the previous posts on this subject by tractor guys a lot smarter than me.

I've run my loader in -30 degree ( at that temp c and f are close enough) with no problem using Permatran III (Massey recommend). I run it off my internal aux pump. Oh, MF 245.

Hi,
Does your blower run off the tractor hydraulics? IF it does, normal 'universal tractor oil' should do. I would think that heavy oil is unlikely given that you would probably be using it in sub-zero conditions. If it is a sealed system then probably a hydraulic '46' will be OK.
'32' should do as an alternative.
