I see various photos with various MH models with black engines, and then other photos with the same model having a red engine. Which model(s) came from the factory with black engines in the 40's or 50's?

Mike- I will go through my Massey-Harris book and make a list of the models that have the black engines and will e-mail it to you.

Got your email Bruce and I copied your information and here it is below. Obviously that pretty much covers the whole line so Massey must have painted some red and some black of those models during production. I have no doubt seen a lot of original tractors of those models with red engines.

"The following info is from the book I have on MH tractors. The following models have black engines. Models 101 & super 101, models 101 & 102 senior, models 101 & 102 junior, models 81 & 82, models 201, 202 & 203, model 20. The following models had black engines in 1947 since it was Massey"s 100th anniversary. The models are 30, 44, 44-6, 55, #11-pony and 744 made in England".
