hi

Bought an MF 40 loader wit original brackets etc.

When i tried to put the belly plate on, i first put it on one way round, and it seems that the uprights are further forwards than pictures that i have seen. Assumed i was neing stupid, took it off and tried to put it on the other way round. this looks like the uprights would be in the right place. BUT when i try to lift up the belly plate to put it on, it hits the underside of the tractor, (Bell housing?) (where the clutch is, sticks out and is sort of round!) There is a sort of cut out that looks like it should be for the bell housing (if thats what it is!) but the cut out id not big enough.

Was wondering if any one else has fitted this loader and could tell me which way round the plate goes!

thanks guys, and sorry for the long post!

Ben

Hi Ben,
The correct way for the beam to fit is with the beam 'leaning' forward, ie away from the seat. The reason for this was to allow loader fitting to be carried out when the rigid and flexible cabs were introduced around 1970/71. I seem to recall that you have a Lambourn cab (may be wrong) on your tractor. It may be necessary to alter or remove the front panel if so. You must have the bracket which fits under the front axle casting and the appropriate rods. If you need to remove them from the pillars, take your time as it is easy to strip the threads as they are very shallow. If you should need any parts you might try Ted Hopkins Newport Gwent, tel 01633 680754.
The loader was made by Steelfab in Cardiff and Ted Hopkins has purchased remaining stocks when the factory closed.
Good luck
DavidP

Thanks David, i assume when you sa "Leaning forwards" you mean with them further towards the front than they would be if they were on the other way?

Thats the way i had it originally and thought it looked a bit too far forwards, but ill trust you! Your right it does have a lambourn cab, but it will go on aorund this when it is this way around.

Will it be ok to use the loader without the front bracing on for a bit of muck shifting until i can get the part?

Am rapidly running out of room in my muck field!

cheers

Ben

Hi Ben,
ABSOLUTELY NOT. Do not under any circumstances use the loader with out the front supports. Do not even fit the beam. If you bend the cross member you will not be able to straighten it. You must have the supports and axle bracket. Regards

Ben, your loader uprights should be attached by diagonal braces to a bracket under the front axle, therefore measuring this should position the uprights and likewise the belly plate. Cheers Ali.

Ben..Do you have a loader from a MF40? Or MF40B? I North America the 40B had a 4cyl diesel The MF 40 had 3 cyl. Therefore the brackets would be different. Do you have the UK 135 with the straight front axle and no radius rods?
