Yeah they use a process called "Stellite" coating, whatever that is. We have a very diverse participation on this site and some of us are pristeen purists, and others just don't give a ..... ..... ..... hoot. In the year that I have graced (disgraced) these hallowed halls, nar once have I heard anyone whine about burned valves unless it was on a much needed engine overhaul wherein the valve job was just part of it. American Oil Company (AMOCO) made an unleaded premium gas back in the 60-70's. Premium cause it costs more to do the process (didn't have cheap lead in it to get the octane up so they had to use something more expensive)and the premium buyers were ready for the surcharge. Don't remember any newspapers bashing them for selling it, nor automotive owners whining about engine damage. In the '50's I can remember a gravity feed pump at a filling station near the house; you know, the one you hand crank the fuel into a measured glass at the top then put the nozzle in your tank and squeeze watching it run out. That was 75 octane (when leaded regular was 96) white gas. My 2c. (Where am I on the GSF curve? Picky when needed, reasonable when not). Mark
