Yes, If your tractor has IPTO removing the liftcover is how you access the three point Filter screen on it.

Thanks to all for taking the time to reply...

OK Big Dean (happy to see you on board)
I'm happy to not to have to split
the tractor to access the filter.

Bert

We have a UK 135 ,1973. Our filter can be reached through the PTO cover. It was not too awkward. You will have to drain the oil out. Change it if it is white and foamy. Go to BARECO and there is some good pictures of the pumps and filters. Ray

Hi,
If your 135 is a later model you may have a triangular plate under the rear centre casing. If so, drain the oils and remove the plate. Remove the clip and undo the nut. The filter will drop out. Be careful not to lose the large O ring. If you do not have the plate, remove the side cover again and get into the most comfortable position to get your hand inside. Familiarise yourself with the layout of the wire and the flat strip ontop of the filter, the shape of the upper and lower cups. Cut the wire and unscrew it. Clean it in petrol or a degreaser and blow it clean with an air line. Refitting will be easier if the lower cup is a snug fit on the filter. Sounds a bit final but it will probably be easier to glue the filter to the cup to hold it in place. Be patient until you find the threaded hole in the pump housing and gently screw the filter to finger tight. Never had one come loose but the wire is not there for nothing. If you can't get the wire in a cable tie will do.
Good luck
David P

I can reach the ones on Fords. I know that the Fergie has the pump back there (with live PTO) and have never had the lid off, but I'd bet with the cover off, a drained sump, a large mirror and a good light, one could be successful in locating and cleaning it.

HTH
