Hi,
In addition to Big Deans comments and the others I offer the following. We have had this problem with a customer's 35 many years ago. In this instance the oscillator which keeps the control valve moving broke. The control valve remained in constant pumping and the heat generated caused the precision 'washers' to stick and hold the valve open. I think that this is what might have happened with yours. Could it have been run in CP for any length of time maybe with the oil low. Removing the side cover and watching the operation should help. If the valve is stuck, removal/replacement is the only sure answer.
Regards DP

Have you tried it with weight on the back?

Saw a 165 at an auction that did it and with 2 people jumping on the lift arms they fell.

Cameron The MF35 type hydraulic control valve are bad about getting a little trash in them and causing them to stick. You can usually get them unstuck by draining the oil down to just below the bottom bolt on the access plate with the dipstick in it. Remove the that access plate inside you will see a set of levers sticking up from the pump with a roller between. With the Draft lever (outside lever) all the way down into the lowering position The Position control lever (the inside lever) in the Fast position on the quadrant. With the engine running try to move the levers with the roller between them toward the back you should feel a spring trying to push the levers the other way. this will usually unstick the control valve. This is very common on tractors with that type of hydraulic controls. Most of them do not have a filter to stop the trash from getting to the control valve. If I can be of further help Email me

do you have the levers to high because it should not squeal as far as I know . Because theres lift and then theres constant pump which should not be used if you don't have a hydraulic control hooked into the pump .Because as far as I know you could blow the pump. you could try moving the slow and fast lever on the side of the transmission with the lift levers down that might work because the same thing happened to me and I tried everything and that worked don't know why maybe it was luck.Thought it was worth a try anyway .This might work if you don't have water in your oil which will make it stick in the winter.

I agree with big dean the hydraulic pump has no filter to stop crap getting in and sticking the control valve. you can buy a massey ferguson filter kit .it gives you all you need to fit a filter to the pump . there is a metal plate in the kit which you use as a template to drill two holes in the filter housing to accomodate the anti oscillating pins on the control valve sleeve. hope this info helps regards hutch p.s the 35 was one of the best tractors made.

did you try moving the fast slow lever on the transmission from slow to fast then fast to slow maybe 3 to 4 time it worked for me .The levers beside the seat have to be down for this to work that's what I did and if you get it to work make sure the lever close to the seat stays about 2 inch's from the back because if it goes back any farther it will be in the constant pump which will make a squealing noise. There should be a stopper for the inside lever.

The response control on the 35 is on the control quadrant .the 135 is on the right hand sideplate (where the dipstick goes.
