Hi guys, put the frmae on the tractor today the way DavidP said, with it 'leaning' forwards, does it look like it is in the right place.

Just looks like its a long way forwards to have all of the weight.

IT wont go on the other way around, hits the bell housing, so i assume this is the right way round?

It needs modifying to support it at the front, which is why the uprights are not sitting right and why they are tied to the cab with string!

Just wanted to see what it would look like!

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben,
You are getting there! The right hand pillar is leaning forward a little so that is exagerating the position. Yes it looks a long way forward but if your 135 had a Scirroco flexible cladding cab on it instead of the Lambourn it would not look out of place as it would just be infront of the cab. Any luck with the axle bracket yet? I see you have at least one support rod.

Ok thanks DavidP

Yer i think the loader was on a different tractor, the support rods have bits welded onto the ends of them which dont look at all original, and are bent at the end as well.

So, the garage next door are going to heat them up, bend them back again, and make something to bold on the underside at the front where those 4 bolt holes are to bolt the support rods to.

Also, i only have 2 of the bolts for the 'belly plate' where it attatches to the bottom of the tractor. Do you think massey dealer will have these? Are they a standard size bolt? I know abasolutely nothing about bolts!

Will ask the garage about them, but stupidly now ive used them to bolt the plate up without measuring them so will have to take 1 back out again.

Thanks

Ben

Hi Ben,
Glad to hear that you are making some progress. The bolts that you need are 5/8 UNC. From memory the MF 40 beam is one inch thick so the length of bolt you need will be a minimum of 2 1/2 inches plus spring washers. These bolts can be obtained from your MF dealer but preferably from a hardware supplier where they should be cheaper.
IF anyone tells you that Whitworth is the same...IT IS NOT. Without getting too technical the angle of the thread (flank angle) for UNC is 60 degrees and Whitworth is 55 so the bolt will be 'loose' in the threaded hole.
Keep us informed of progress.
DavidP
