Dave: Massey was at least with the times in regards to it's 3 point "Hitch All" The Original MH upper link and virtually all "Hitch All" parts are available from Bob Doucet in Holmen WI (608) 857-3153 These reproductions are of the highest quality and made to exacting tolerences to be direct replacements to the real factory items. Give Bob a call and have him send you a picture/list of what he makes, you'll find out your probably missing more parts than you think, once you view his picture (it direct from the parts book) you'll see the hitch was well thought out and although it lacked draft control it was very user friendly for the time period.

Dave... If you contact Keith Oltrogge, editor of the Massey-Harris "Wild Harvest" magazine at PO Box 529, Denver, Iowa 50622, I am sure he would be able to send you a picture of the top link you will need. You would have to fabricate/make one because I doubt if you could ever find one.

I have an MH 44 with a three point hitch just like yours. It is not compatable with PTO driven three point hitch equipment. I have used it with a three point sprayer, and a cyclone seeder but I had to use a chain in place of the top link.

The mower I have is semi mounted, it attaches to the bottom links of the three point, and uses a remote hydraulic cylinder to lift it.

Although the MH was one of the most modern tractors in its day, it has its shortcomings. The three point hitch and the high mounted PTO is one of them.

THE TOP LINK HAS AN EYE IN IT MUCH LIKE A CABLE
TURNBUCKLE.
