i have a massy f 35 w/manual steering i just broke a tooth on the right steering sector shaft single question is is this shaft steel or cast iron can i weld and build the tooth back?

I have to ask you how you managed to break the tooth on the sector shaft? The reason I ask is when I initially rebuilt my steering box, the right sector shaft had two teeth that had the end halves broken off and I can't imagine how that could have happened.

I too believe the shaft is forged steel.

well the steering sector had a broken tooth when i removed it looked like itcould have been broken for some time but it was still catching enough on the remainder of the tooth to werk.i did have it welded cost me 20.00 as opposed 480.00 that the dealer wanted.

This is almost certainly forged steel, I don't think you'll be able to weld it.
