Hi,
I'm about to remove the front axle of my 135. I will pull the pivot pin and am wondering about its replacement. Do I simply hammer it home using a wood block as a cushion after painting with a little anit-seize?
What's your advice...and thanks.

make sure you get the right replacement pin, one version is shorter and has an oblong welded-on ear up front, mine was longer straight pin with keeper bolted into a locking notch in pin, order 2 bushings, factory only puts rear one in

my OEM pin was solid with tapped hole in front, replacement pin was hollow and slipped right into place with good coat of anti-seize, hollow pin allows front hydralic pump to be added

my pin was really set up in there and coat of factory paint made it even tighter, after much bad language and help from Big Dean, I pulled radiator off to get room to work

soak pin well with favorite penetrating oil, PB Blaster worked for me, 10 lb sledge finally got pin moved 1/32" back, then I unbolted front end and worked on unit off the tractor, once it moves that little bit, you are on the home stretch

maybe yours will slip right out

Right.... good advice there, but actually I'm not too concerned about getting it out....
What I would like to know is about getting it back into place.
Wood block and a sledge?
Do I need to heat the cast front end before reassembly? Freeze the pin? Both?
Thanks.

I put anti-seize on the new one and it slid in real nice by hand, this is on 1970 MF135 perkins with swept-back axle

the bushings are pretty sturdy so I beat mine into place, used permanent loctite on them so I"m hoping they stay in place

if your pin goes in hard, I would make sure everything is in right, check in the bore for a rough edge and grind any off you might find, then wail away with the 5lb sledge

this is not precision work

Thanks again...
One more thing... you say yours is a 1970 MF135.
So is mine.. with serial # 9A 106280. Do you happen to have your serial #.... just curious.

Mine is a 3 cyl. gas. If yours is, I would really appreciate knowing what the Engine Serial # is.

Again, mine is 152UA11927A.

The reason I ask is I am trying to determine whether the engine is original to the tractor.

Thanks...
