I think this has been asked before but here goes again. After the Ferguson name joined up (1953 I think) with MH to become MHF (for a while), did the name MASSEY HARRIS FERGUSON ever show up as a decal on any tractor tinwork? I think somebody said it was on the serial number plate but what about on the tractor itself?

Mike - Just got off the phone after talking to my old neighbour who was a Massey-Harris mechanic in the 'fifties. Tractors were definately decaled as Massey-Harris-Ferguson during the switch-over and indeed there is one for sale locally. If I get a opportunity, I'll get the serial numbers off it this weekend if you wish.

Yes, I would like to know that, and maybe post the model number too.

Mike - Went through town to-day and that tractor is gone. I don't know who the owner was, but it appeared to be an early 35. I can still see the Massey display at the old Haldimand County Farmer's Picnic held at an abandoned airfield in Kohler (Ont.) in 1954/55. I would have been only 10 or 11 at the time but I could take you right to the exact spot to-day. Funny how certain things stick in your mind after all these years. The dealer's grandson (an accountant) is setting up a museum in Hagersville to display his Massey tractors ,equipment and memorability from his grandfathers dealership. The actual building was torn down last year after being used as storage for the local grocery store. The dealership was closed in about 1970. Very sad as it was one of the largest (for those times)and oldest dealerships in this area. My neighbour's father was a thresherman who bought his last machine from Roy after having used it most of the year at the insistance of the dealer to make sure he that he really liked it !! Time change eh!!

Mike - Yes , Massey-Harris-Ferguson did appear on decals for awhile. I have fotos from around 1955/56 at the International Plowing Match held in Norfolk county(Ont) showing those decals clearly. Also see an early 35 for sale locally with original paint and those decals.

Parts castings had MHF, but I doubt Harry would have allowed his name on decals, during his brief
tenure on the Board of Directors. Once his seat on
the Board was bought out, the Packard Board member
who replaced Harry, was eager to close the combine
factory. With such chaos, some MHF decals may have been placed on a two bottom plow. MH stayed on the combines, until 1963. The complete demise,
from 1953 forward, of Massey-Harris, is a sad story.
