MH 44 Steering Adjustment

Is there any way to adjust the steering: in order to take out some of the play? any tricks??? Thanks for the help!

Remove the grille and steering gear cover plate.Check the oil level first.I would use 80-90 gear oil.Next jack up the front end and set the wheel in the straight forward position.Loosen the lash adjuster bolt about a half turn.Tap the lash adjuster down to tighten the lash.Then check the lash at the extreme ends of turn.Since the major portion of wear on the steering gear and worm gear occurs in the center of the steering ,you may have to loosen the lash a bit so the wheel will turn freely at the extremes.
