I hope someone can give me a easy fix for this. The hitch will only go up/down by using the draft control lever, dosn't matter if the position control is in up or down position, When the lift is all the way up it feels like the pump is still feeding it pressure. The check chains on the lower arms seem like they are to short because the lower arms acually bend where the chains attach when they are raised all the way up. Also it dosn't seem to make any differance when there is weight on the hitch. The hitch seems like it has all sorts of power and dosn't leak down if left with weight on it, also the oil looks clean. Thanks for any help

I guess it looks like if I want this to work right the pump cover will have to come off. This tractor is used mostly for loader work, handling round bales so the 3 pt isn't that important. Just drives me nuts having something thats not working right though, so I guess soon as its warm out I'll be pulling the cover. Thanks for everyones time and help.

There is a piece of linkage on the position linkage that will jump out of place causing the position control lever not the operate the pump control valve the liftcover has to be removed in order to put that linkage back where it belongs. I have a picture on my CD repair disc that shows this and how to repair it.

Hi DWB,
I think that MHF is on the right track but there are more problems. Normally the 'draft' lever will only give you an 'up', 'hold' or 'down' position. Trying to find this point and work with it would be difficult. The way that the internal linkage is set up tells the pump to be in neutral just before the linkage is fully raised, that way there is no undue strain on the system. Final adjustment is carried out by positioning the adjustable stop correctly on Pressure Control tractors and by adjusting the bolt-on stop on non PC tractors. On removal of the cover I think that you will find the small tension spring in the internal linkage is broken. Failure of this spring does not allow the position of the lift arms to tell the pump to move to neutral at max lift so it keeps pumping all the time.
Let us know.

G/day D.W.B., has it had the lift cover removed lately? just a thought, could be adjustment, or could be broken, binding position control linkage/rod in liftcover. cheers fer now.

It wont hurt anything to use the draft lever to raise and lower. The lift cover will probably have to come off and get adjusted to get the levers working right. Sounds like the pump and relief valve are working okay if it is lifting everything right. One more question is the tractor pulling down a little bit when the 3 pt. is all the way up if it is thats the releif valve popping off. if that is happening then I would recommend getting the lift cover adjusted. Or if you want to do it another way find where the 3 pt. is high enough and not popping the relief valve. and put a 1/4 bolt behind the lever so you can"t slide it back far enough to let it happen.
