Hi guys

Im in the UK for a start

Off to a farm sale on friday, there is a 210cm drum mower and a "fahr KM22 drum mower" there. Im wondering if my 135 would be up to powering either of these in quite long and thick grass hay in the UK?

I dont really mind how long it takes, were only making about 17 acres this year and it will probably be in blocks of 5 acres.

Thanks guys

Ben

Hi guys

Didnt buy that disc mower..... complete wreck, i left before it came up so i dont know how much it sold for, but it was bodged everywhere!

4 bits of steel welded on top of the bed to hold it together! A random hole in the gearbox that had a bolt dropped in it with a load of sealant around it to try and block it up, fell out in my hand so would have been pissing oil everywhere.

thanks for the advice, maybe another day!

Ben

Glad you walked away from it.
Look for a nice disc mower for her, (say a Vicon or a Lely ) about a 5 to 6 footer

Hi all
I have spent lots of time cutting grass and clover (heavy crops too) between milkings.
I found the PZ cm165 was a good match for the multipower 135 diesel.
however the steering was not power assisted and did after a couple of days made the back of the neck ace! We also used a couple of front end weights to keep the balance right.
Cheers Arthur from Tassy

Hi Ben,
I have a PZ CM165 drum on my 1965 135 which copes with it OK. In thick matted grass progress is very slow. I think that in these conditions your tractor would be on it's limit and a 165cm machine would be a better bet.

Without doubt the KM22 and CM 165 are the best machines around. Don't forget also that when in transport there is a lot of weight a long way back which will make the front end dangerously light especially if you hit a pot hole.

Cheers

David P

Hi Ben If you buy that mower when moving around with it folded up be very careful I have seen probably at least 8 or 10 MF135s and MF235s MF245s turned over with New Holland disc mowers when turning to the left. On 2 of those the driver was killed.

Ben,
Do you mean 210 disc or drum ? sounds a bit to much for a 135. The Fahr KM22 (see picture)is about 5 foot 6 inch so I would be OK I think in 3rd low or 1st high if it was not too thick, but with the mower in transport position you would need quite a few weights on the front end to hold her down!

I see a PZ CM135 without the shields over against the wall. In the States the CCM 135 is the same as the PZ CM135.

Thanks Roy!

Tractor should have a loader on it soon, just need to make the bracket, so that should hold the front down!

Our grass is thick, talking 860 bales of 7 acres!

I will only buy it if it is cheap!

Thanks

Ben

There will be some sap in that I guess! Heck I hope you don't get any heavy storms to flatten it before you get it 'loose at both ends' either, or then it definitely will be disc/drum mower or nothing.
