Hi,

I have a nice MF 180 but the PTO, multi-power and remote hydrolics do not work. If I understand correctly, these work off a separate hydrolic pump? Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? If I have to split the tractor, should I do it from the front or rear of the transmission?

Thanks for your help!

Charles

The MF100 series tractors do have a separate pump that sets above the three point pump in the rear center housing. when you have multipower and or independent pto with factory auxiliary hydraulics the pump is a two stage pump the front set of gears are for the multipower and INPTO the back set of gear is for the auxiliary hydraulic one stage can be bad and the other stage still work fine. it is rare both go bad at the same time. The tractor has to be split between the transmission and the rear center housing to access the auxiliary pump. The liftcover will have to be removed so you can disconnect the line going to the front of the transmission for the multipower before you can split it. If I can be of further help email me.

Forgot to mention, if your 3pt is working ok it could be the aux/multi-power/pto pump as it all runs off of the same shaft though the bottom of the transmission. There is a small hose inside the trans that connects to the multi-power valve, when I took mine apart (MF165) the hose did have a blister on it, it hadn't broke yet but may not have had long to live. If you have an oil cooler up front you can test the pressure of the system. Where the lines come out of the bell housing, you can install a pressure gauge. Lee

It may not be the pump that is the problem. If you have a two stage clutch, it could be the clutch is wore out or out of ajustment. All of the items you mentioned run off the 2nd stage of the clutch, unless you have an IPTO system. IPTO system doesn't use the clutch pedal to put PTO in gear, it's just a ON/OFF lever on the left side cover down behind your left foot. Check with Big Dean's website, he's the guru on these things.
