Hi Everyone, Ok, at home I've got a MF 135 Gas Deluxe (with the Z145 engine in it) that has sat for 12 years. At last, we are ready to start to make it work again. It allegedly has a cracked short block. Here is what I have done:Changed the oil - - Water did come out for 20 seconds and then the oil along with the "gloop" aka sediment (?) - I put what oil I had around, 10W-40 synthetic back in there to help flush the old out, and I did this a few times with fresh oil. Bought a new battery and replaced the cables Muffler (ordered) and the Manifold (Tomorrow) are going to be replaced. Changed the oil and power steering filters, ordered a new air filter. Replaced the fuel filter assembly with a new one from TSC and I replaced the ignition (with a new from the MF Dealer). We bought a new solinoid, and going to go to the MF dealer tomorrow and by a new Ignition Coil - I also replaced the distributor cap and wiring to the spark plugs and ignition coil. Since someone stole the remotes off the Massey, I've ordered a new pressure cap too. The Starter is going to be rebuilt or replaced. My question is, am I missing something? I tried to start the tractor pre-removal of the starter, and it buzzed, and one headlight turned on. I did put fresh gas in the tank (87 Octane) and when it first went through the fuel filter it was a light yellow. Now its an amber color, and I know (intuition - I could be wrong) thats not good. When I took off the starter last Saturday (after a whole can of PB Blaster), rust soup came out of the starter. Does this mean that the starter is shot? We were going to have it rebuilt at a local place here in Columbus, OH. Once I have everything put back, what rate of sucess might I have? I've replaced or repaired everything that I could think of that is within my mechanical ablity. I haven't touched the carborator or the generator yet. That's next week's project. Someone back in March suggested I flush the crankcase with diesel. How do I do that? I appreciated anything - thoughts, suggestions, etc. you can throw at me. Sincerely, Christos
