I have an oil leak. I have already replaced the seal aroung the tractometer cable and that has helped. I do still seem to have a small oil leak on the right hand side of the engine.

I can see oil on lip of the block below the starter where the oil pan bolts on.

Any ideas where the leak may be? seems to be coming down the side of the block but I am not sure where it is starting at?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I am currently rebuilding a burnt MF135 AD-152 Perkins all new gaskets + seals. After it was burnt I bought another MF135 and it really needs the same treatment. A bottom/top gasket set is not expensive - just a pain fitting it. After 35 years virtually all gaskets and seals need replacement on a tractor so save it for a winter project.

Hi,
Have a close look around the breather hole on the body of the lift pump. Make sure that the nuts are tight and that the gasket is OK. Try also the small pipe that runs upto the rear corner of the cylinder head.

Cheers

Is this necessarily a problem?

If the leak(s) accumulate(s) to where you are running low on oil in the middle of a job, then you have a problem. If it's just a little one, who cares?

The kid who delivered my 35 commented that "Those old Perkins diesels practically change their own oil."

Mine has lots of drips, but none have become serious.

I would have to agree with rod. A few leaks don't warrant spending a lot of time or money to repair. My 63 35 with the perkins diesel leaks abit out of the rear main I think. It leaks out of the weep hole on the inspection cover on the clutch. I just check the level before I use it and add probably a litre per season. No big deal.Just carry on and enjoy one of the best engines ever built!
