I am in need of a medium-size utility tractor, found a Massey Ferguson 65 , gas engine Continental 176, 1958 or 59 model the tractor runs great, has like 4200 hours showing ..... If I buy this tractor, is it likely to say in the future I can find all necessary parts to do all mechanical repairs to keep this 65 running from now on, or are their mechanical parts that are unavailable? This is a good running tractor for 3300, I need it for tilling, and is about all I can afford... is it a decent choice? Or should I save my money until I can afford something larger and more modern?

I have a 58 M-F65. I consider it a very good tractor. Dealers are a little hard to find, but there is a lot of good after market parts out there, most implement stores can get them, advertisers on this web site etc. The hydrulics are limited, work well on the 3 point though. We pull 3-14 plow, a 10ft pickup 3 point hitch tamden disk, 6 ft brushhog, 8 ft rear blade. Sounds like the price is about right.

The MF-65 is a good 4 bottom plow tractor. $3300 is a fair price for one in medium to okay condition. As you say it runs great, then your getting a better buy.

Parts are redilly avilable and it was respected as a good tractor in it's day. Only drawbacks I know of, some consider the Hydraulic pump on the small side to run Bleed-off equipment. i.e. front loader performance is slow. The hydraulic pump is properrly sized to run the 3-point... it's the extra items I have heard people complain about.

Check out Big Dean's page on tractor buying.
