Help! I have a 1960-62 M/F 35 Diesel. The 3pt hitch has a hard time lifting. It sometimes will only raise a few inches. If I crank up the r.p.m. it will slowly lift higher but not much. The dipstick shows fluid is just past the full. I've played with the draft lever adjustments but with no luck. It has been working fine up until just recently,Can anyone help, what to look for.
Thanks..... Bob T.

That problem is usually caused by the pump being wore out. If it has the thin oil for the MF100 series and later tractors that may be helping the problem. In the US those tractor used MF M1103 it is an 80/90 wt mineral oil GL1 80/90 wt oil is mineral oil and will replace it. If your pump is in good condition the thin oil used in the later tractor will work but if the pump has wear on it when the thin oil gets hot the lift will not raise. Hope this will help

Hi,
First thing to check is the filter. Drain approx 2 gallons from the system, emptying is easier. Standing behind the tractor, remove the round cover on the lhs of the casing. It will be easier if you remove the footplate bracket also.
Shine a light inside and you will see the filter on the far side with an upturned cup on the top. The cup should be restrained with a piece of wire. Cut the wire and unscrew the top. Be careful as there sharp edges around it. There is a similar cup at the bottom. Try and lift the whole assembly out as one item. You will soon see if the filter is blocked. Wash it out in petrol. There is an 'O' ring under the bottom cup which normally stays on the pump, make sure it's still there and replace the filter. I have never had a filter work loose but the wire is there for a reason. Replace the cover and oil and hopefully you will see an improvement. It's an awkward job so take your time.
Cheers
DavidP

Hi Bob I'm having the same problem it also just started recently. I've checked everything I could without taking the machine apart. the only thing that works to get it to lift is when I put pressure on the PTO lever to the point of where just before it engages that the 3 point lifts.
