I have a chance to pick up a MF 2705 for $2650 from a dealer. Sounds very reasonable,He says they don't have much of a market for that size tractor. It is quite a bit bigger than my 175 at 120 HP but it seems too good to pass up. Any Thoughts? Thanks in advance Art

I think I'd look real carefully and give it a thorough, 25 point checkup to see what, if anything is wrong with it. That size tractor may not be MF's cup of tea but it sure suits everyone else! At 121hp and 1978-1983 build dates, this tractor size can sell for ten times that amount. IMO, the dealer is trying to unload a problem, and he knows exactly what problem it has too, but won't tell you. That offer is scarier than if it was being sold by a salvage yard operator!

if it's a 8 speed it's cheep if a 24 they can be expensive to fix. the 2000 series was not the best tractor in the world but a lot depends on how it was taken care of. see some with 7000hr. and have never been apart and some with 2000hr. that were junk

I want to thank everyone for the great advice. Seems when I went back the next morning someone else bought it. Sometimes things happen for a reason. Thanks again Art

round here with all these new gentleman farmers with 20 acres or less an the buyout the older big tractors - 100+ - aint got a market about like older combines. the 2705 holds 85 gallons of fuel an you can do a whole lotta of work with it.
