Hi...just took the PTO cover off my 135..no problem.
Cut the tie wire to the hydraulic filter...no problem.
Cap has a wing welded to it...a little bent so I guessed that was either a 'pull point' or a 'twist point'. I assumed the latter. With both fingers and pliers, I twisted counter and clockwise. Nothing! I did straighten the wing though.

I assume the top cup with welded wing has a screw attached which joins below. I've read this and the advice to be sure to lift both cups to keep from spilling grunge.

How can I loosen this filter? IS the top cup attached to the screw so that I can try to turn it? I don't want to mess up or cause a mess...

Any advice is greatly appreciated! This is my last chore (maybe) before stripping and priming this part of the tractor.....help!

Never mind.... muscles win in reply to Bill Darte, 09-10-2005 06:03:50
I got it.
Took a chance and gave it a mighty twist....
Bingo! And as a bonus, the filter was VERY clean. Previous owner told me he had the rear end overhauled, guess that was no lie...

Hi Bill,
It's amazing how tight an O ring will hold things together. A tip for the future. Get a piece of steel tube about 1 1/2" dia and cut a slot in one end to fit over the 'wing'. Drilla hole for a largish cross-point screwdriver or similar in the tube where it can be accessed through the side cover allowing for the fact that you have to turn it anticlockwise, viewed from above. Only needs to be handtight when refitting.
