Frost plugs out. Is this a common problem on say a Massey 97 or MM705? Are they difficult or expensive to replace. Is the engine in a 97 the same as a 705 or 706?
Thanks

Hi,
No, they aren't difficult to replace or expensive. Buy from the best source you can as we have found that thicknesses do vary and life is reduced. Drain coolant and thuroughly clean the block or head sealing area. Make sure you do not scratch it. Fine sandpaper is OK. Use a socket just a little smaller than the plug size as it will close in when fitted. The biggest problem with fitting them is access. You may have to remove something to get a direct hit on it. To check the size, push the plug into the hole with a finger. They will normally stay in place. Too big or small and you'll soon know. A sealer can be used but is not essential. Several good knocks will do more good than a lot of little ones. There will be a champfer around the block hole. Make sure that the plug is 'square' or correct if not. If not using a socket make sure that the tool has a rounded edge so as not to risk puncturing the plug.
Regards
DavidP
