These weights came both ways re:the retainer bolts. The earlier ones only had the threaded hole for the bolt. The early weights were smaller in size and painted red. Later they were increased in size and painted Massey flint metallic grey and then later Massey flint grey.

Hope this helps.

Those are almost exactly like the ones I was describing yesterday, except there appears to be no way to hold them on the tractor. The hole on ours for the bolt is located in the 1st angled part after the straight shot down. There is then a square notch about 1" in where the square nut is located. I"ll try to remember to take a picture when I get home.

What are you mounting them on? could make a difference as to the color, but those look like the same silver that ours are painted

I have the weights but no Massey-Ferguson to hang them on. Seven tractors but no M-F; shame on me. I am holding out for a 97 propane built by M-M or a 98(by Oliver?) with the GM two stroke diesel. Then I'll have a machine to hang them on!
The last picture shows that they hang on a vertical bar (as on the channel iron) and bolt into the threads on the slant about 2/3 the way down. You can just see the threaded hole with a dauber nest in it.

Don, They hang on a flat piece of steel on the front of most Masseys. Im not sure if your supposed to bolt them together? Lou

You don't bolt the weights together, there is a bolt w/ a big, thick square washer that holds them onto that plate.

We used to have 4 of those on our 285 w/ a large chunk of concrete w/ a pipe through it hung between them. We took it off because we don't need the weight anymore, but we still have it around "just incase". Now we just have the 5 weights on to keep the front from bouncing too much

Don , I recently found 3 weights for my 175, it needed weight often. Ive just got them hanging from the bar. sounds like I better check into this bolt your refering to so they dont come off.

Here's a shot of the washer that is under there. It's atleats a 1/4" thick, anything less will bend. I know this because one of our weights was missing the bolt and everything, but we had a few thinner square washers around that were the same size. It bent, but after a while it finally held. It's in the middle now so it won't go anywhere.

Mine do not have that opening for the big square nut. Mine are just threaded at the same place on the slanted section. Thanks for all the info.

Here's another. Anyone know the paint codes for these? I beleive they were originally the light gray or silver.

Just to confuse matters, the MF 1100 we had came with 8 front weights identical to those pictured, as standard equipment. They were painted red.
