I just looked at a Massey 44 I am considering buying and was wondering about the High Altitude option. What is it? Is it a higher compression engine to make better use of the thinner air? Or just a carburator difference? Also, how difficult is it to put a three point on it. For the price I will have a tough time passing up the deal. Thanks for any help.

Chad,

I have a MF35 with a high altitude engine in it and to the best of my knowledge, it is only the compression that is different. Mine is a 6.6:1 where the standard altitude engine is 6.0:1. For use in high altitude the carburator will probably alse be adjusted differently, but apart from that, I believe they are identical.
Mine has always lived at sea level and is performing just fine. I would not worrie about that if I were you.

Best regards
Steen
