On my 135 I have just fitted a post hole digger. When I push the clutch in to engage the PTO the digger slowly drops. Is this a problem or is it normal? If it isn't normal what is involved in repairing the fault. It's fitted with the 6 speed trans & LPTO. Thanks for any help.

hi

before you get too in depth with this problem, you migth want to check it has the right oil in the back.

Mechanics giving my 135 a free service once filled the back end up with engine oil - the hydraulics were REALLY bad on that stuff in the one time i used it before getting a chance to chage the oil!

it would go to the ground the second you hit the clutch.

Worth a thought

Ben

Hi Ben.

I can't help with mechanics, but as I am just getting a MF 135 myself and have a lot of fencing work to do at my paddocks, I wonder if you'd mind telling me a bit about your fence post borer. Like - what model do you have to work with your 135, where did you get it, and what sort of price can I expect to pay for one?

I'm just starting out in this tractor business, and it's all very new to me.

Cheers,

CN

Hi Fred,
Two words spring to mind, WEAR and LEAKAGE. These could be present in any number of places.
I would guess that when your splitter or something fairly heavy is on the linkage with the engine at idle, it will fall and return to its position on its own. The leaks in your system allow oil to flow back to the casing. When the linkage drops, the movement is detected by the hydraulic internal linkage and immediately pumps oil back into the system to regain the original position, then returns to neutral until the next time.
The location of the leaks will probably be in one or more of the following;
Isolating valve, lift cylinder rings, piston or cylinder, stack pipe, stack pipe O rings, pump control valve, piston or piston rings in the pump, poppet valves in the pump, damaged pump body (does it rattle much?), damage to operating linkage.
Sorry if it all sounds black but it will require a full strip down to check everything. There are quite a few special tools needed to do the job correctly not least lifting the hydraulic cover off which is awkward and heavy.
It is not really a job to be attempted by someone without the experience and special tools. Good luck.
David P

Howdy, I read your question about the hydraulics on your 135. The likelyhood of something simple is good, since these are simple systems. How many hours does this tractor have? Do you have other systems attached( front loader, aux. hyd. valves, etc)? Pull the hydraulic dip stick after the tractor has time to warm up with a heavy load to check for foaming. If the answer to the above questions is "no", then check the o-rings on the stand pipe. If you are not familiar with this, you are welcome to contact me at harveybrock@hotmail.com. It only requires removing 2 bolts to pull the cap and stand pipe. This is my first time to visit this website and I do not know when I will visit again, so e-mail may be the best way contact me.
Good bye
