165 Hydraulics Have Lost Control

The inner lever on my 165 should set the 3pt linkage height (when in the rear half of it's movement). It doesn't - I have to use a combination of the inner and draft levers to get the system to lift and lower and that's all the control I have - I'm either up or down (or travelling between ;-)).
The power is great, I've had nearly two ton of stone in a link box and lifted fine, but I'd like to be able to set the height correctly when using mowers etc - I saw a snippet of info about this in the archives but not quite enough.

I have the I&T repair guide and a parts box but I would like an idea of what to start with when I'm barn bound in the winter.

Thanks in Advance
Bill

Hi,

I had a similar problem and it was caused by that piece of linkage described by Big Dean, however in my case it had not popped out but rather a small spring that attaches to it had rusted and failed. I replaced the spring and it solved my problem

There is a piece of linkage under the liftcover that will pop out of place on the MF100 series tractors that will cause the position lever not to work. It very common on them if the implement hit something solid and especially if the implement hit something while backing up. I am sure that is problably what is causing your problem. I have a picture that shows this it is hard to find if you do not know what you are looking for. If you would like the picture email me with an email address I can send it to.

Bill, can't make out what your are describing about your lift. First thing you need to do is build a good fire with the I&T manual. Get yourself real MF 1. Operator Manual, 2. Repair Manual, 3. Parts Manual. Mine have paid for themselves twice over. Post back more details about how the lift is moving.
