I have an FE-35 with a cylinder Perkins. Today I was trying to remove the original headlight buckets to clean, paint and re-wire them, could someone tell me if the flat headed bolts with the sqaure backs that hold the lights on are avalable ? They are spinning and I can not hold the heads of them, before I get the hot wrench out I want to make sure I can get new ones.

Thanks
Brent

I have befor ground the nut with a grinder to the threads and removed them from the bolt. After there off cleaned up the threads real good and used new nuts on them. I hate to wrench the buckets hard since once messed up there big bucks to replace!! I never try much more than a little liquid wrench and some ft pounds, then out comes the grinder messed up a few head lights befor so I quit while I am ahead now. Course that requires removing the hood to get to the nut but you would have to do the same to torch them off! Mark H.

Hi
These bolts are a real pain in the****. You can't hold them and the slightest damage will prevent the nut moving freely..... if you get it off to start.
Certainly in the UK as far as I am aware, replacements are not available. Try and persevere working the nut back and forth using a 'maintenance spray' of some sort. In desperation a little heat should be OK. Use a small gas cylinder blow torch if you can rather than the excessive heat of oxy-acetylene. Let it cool to cold and try again. Be patient it may take a while but we have not failed yet.
Good luck
DavidP

Make sure it is the bolts and not the buckets that are wore out.
