Hi,
It's possible that if the clutch stays in engagement that it is nothing more than the splines on the main plate dry or rusty. Will the tractor actually drive with the clutch pedal down or is it just difficult to get in and out of gear?
Don't buy parts yet.

Regards

WHAT IT DOES IS THIS WHEN YOU ENGAGE THE CLUTCH ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TRACTOR WILL KEEP MOVING AS SOON AS I HIT THE BRAKES IT STOPS,IT AT TIMES IS HARD TO GET IT IN GEAR
THANKS

Hi again,
From what you say in your reply gives me another possibility. Are you losing any oil from the split pin under the clutch housing? It is possible that there is some oil present on the clutch plate making the surface 'sticky'. This is often enough to prevent the clutch disengaging until a greater load (brakes) are applied. This would also account for difficulty in engaging gear. Do you have correct pedal movement? In normal times, was the forward motion stopped before the pedal reached the second stage of the travel?

do not know your situation

if tractor has been worked hard and this gradually got worse, thats a lot different than a tractor that sat a long time or only gets very light use

there are some similar posts with good comments in the archives here, a search should bring them up for you

possible rust or friction material built-up on flywheel/pressure plate, splitting might be last thing you try
