When I checked the throttle plate shaft on my 22 carb, it's just like you suspected, real worn & loose. Now, this site doesn't list carburetors for a Massey 22. Won't other carbs for an F-140 engine fit? Where do you suggest I go for a rebuild? Rebuild kits aren't going fix the worn holes that holds the shaft, right? Any advice is appreciated.

I have a rebuilt tsx34 from my mh 20 I would sell. The jet was drilled out big for pulling, but you could put your stock one in it. most of the rebuild kits you'll find will have the wrong lever on the throttle shaft. I had to lenghthen mine.

Welcome, Sam. Bob had to step out for a few, probably giving a tow start with his 44. Your
carburetor should be a Marvel Schebler T5X34,
if original. Since M/S is gone, most numbers
have a conversion to Zenith. The 140 engine
was quite popular, so finding a complete carb,
or rebuild kit should not be difficult. NAPA
probably has a kit. There was a site, on line,
that had kits, try a search...carburetor kits.com
I found it a few times, in the past. Good luck.
