Just a reminder with the cold weather here those old diesels get a little hard to start. The Perkins engine do not handle starting fluid well. It only takes a little to much one time to bust the ring lands off the piston. A block heater plugged in 3 or 4 hours before you need the tractors is a much better way to start then in cold weather.

Big Dean is right on, as usual. If you feel you must use starting fluid, be absolutely sure you use only PREMIUM fluid. The cheap stuff will explode rather than burn, and that's where you get the broken rings. NAPA had #7200 in their Mac's line years ago - I don't know if they still have it or not, but find the good stuff or suffer major consequences.

Good subject Big Dean. Do you or any one else know where you could get plans for or buy the complete Therma-Start system for the 3 and 4 cyl perkins? So far I can only locate the heater/nozzle
Gary

Gary BareCo has the bleed off reservoir in the fuel system in the fuel injection section. they have the manifold heater nozzle in electrical in switches and wiring. They don't show the lines I always used brake lines and made the lines myself.

Thank you Big Dean. You have come thru for me again! I have seen a couple of older MF's with this system installed and it worked perfect.

Gary they do work very well if they are connected right. They are not as good as a block heater but if you your tractor is not close to a plug in they are the next best thing. I have a drawing showing how the lines connect to the bleed off reservoir if you would like to have it send me an email address and I will send it to you. Big Dean
