I use my 1130 on my bale chopper everday although it works good the tractor is cold blooded it runs rough until I get the temp needle between "C" and the "dot". Unfortunatly it's been in the upper teens outside lately and even with cardboard in front of the radiator I can't get the tractor to warm up past the "C" and as a result the tractor sputers and misses when I open up the trottle. I checked the themostat yesteday and it is opening and closing fine. Is it normal for these tractors to be so cold? On the other hand it starts great in the cold it was 11 out the other morning and it started right up no block heater and definitly no either.

I think you have a problem with fuel. Maybe water? I would drain sediment bowl, change fuel filters & drain both tanks. Add fresh fuel with Diesel Conditioner.

I would also draw that conclusion, but I've had the tractor since early october and it's done this all along. Also I just got done over hauling the brakes, transmission and clutch, and while I had it torn down I cleaned and flushed the fuel tanks. New filters all around were part of the job as well.

It opened at about 170. according to the service manual it's supossed to open between 167 and 176. I ran the test a couple of times to see if it consistantly opened and closed, and it did.

Seeing as how thermostat's aren't all that much, I'd replace it just to be sure anyway. I had similar problems on my 1600, I tested the thermostat and it appeared to be fine but it just wouldn't warm up right. I put in a new thermostat and now it warms up just fine.
