Hi
I have just bought a Massey 1150 which has a label within the cab which says dont drive without lowering the Uploading Valve. Where is the valve and what does it do? How long should fully charged batteries spin this engine before it starts. Mine will spin it about 10/15 seconds before they are exhausted.

Those valves are great but temperamental about leaking. In cold weather our MF 1100 was very hard to start without pulling up valve.

My 1130 which also has the unloading valve will not crank more then 15 sec in the cold with fully charged batteries. Unless you pull the valve up then it has no problems. On my tractor the unloading valve will pop back down automaticly when the engine gets running and up to speed.

That valve is just in front of the seat sticking up through the floor it should have a ring through a hole in it so you can pull it up to release the charge pump load while you are cranking the engine. It makes a big difference in how it turns over as soon as the engine is running you push it down. The best I remember even with the valve not pulled up it should crank more than 15 seconds with good batteries.

The reason they said not to drive it is, no brakes no steering and the seat won`t adjust up and down.

And it's extremely important not to operate your tractor without the seat working.
