purchased a massey harris super, not running, but with a chrysler engine. But serial #259743 i can not find. Could it be on a senior frame. Also is there a number of forward gears in super and senior? Thanks

Your tractor is correct. 101 Seniors did not come out till 1942 with the continental engine SN 260,018. Both tractors had 4 forward gears. The engine and the sheet metal changed.

I think all 101 Supers and Seniors and Juniors had 4 speed transmisions, had to get into 44's or 30's to get the five speed. Some early 101 tractors came out on steel wheels and didn't have the fast 4th gear, maybe 7 mph tops.

Serial number denotes late 1941 Senior row crop. Why the Chrysler? no clue. Merry Christmas

I purchased this tractor as a super and felt it was a chrysler engine in a senior frame. Thanks I was right. The sheet metal is perfect and fits great, so guess i will have a mix. How about the # of gears? I understand that the super had 4 forward and the Senior had 5. Am i right? thanks again. Bill
