I am putting my old 55 model TO 35 back together and I am having trouble getting the handles on for the draft control. I can get the front handle on OK with the keyway, but the back handle calls for the spacer to be placed on the shaft first and then the handle goes over it. I cannot get the spacer to go on the shaft far enough to allow me to get the keyway into the slot so that I can slide the handle on. Is there some way to get the back shaft on the draft control to come out far enough to get the spacer and the handle back on? Hopefullly, there is a lever or something that I am not throwing correctly to get this shaft to come out far enough. If you need pictures, I can post them tomorrow. Thanks for any help.

The only thing I know of that would keep it from coming through far enough is the roller is out of place in the linkage cam in the lift cover. Do you have the liftcover off ?

I did not take the lift cover off. This morning before I left for work, I played with it again. I moved the back plate forward and back and the shaft finally popped through. I guess I just had some paint built up on it. Thanks for getting back to me.

I have seen a number of posts from various contributors regarding the type of fluid that we should put in the rear differential. I understand that we should use Rotella oil 10-30 weight. It fills through a hole located next to the shifting lever. Is this correct?

I saw in one of your other posts that one diagnostic measure of poor hydraulics is to see if there is air in the system. Is there a way to bleed this air off? I took the side cover off of the right side of the tractor during restoration and I drained the fluid below this plate. I assume it will take probably five gallon to refill what I drained off. It is interesting to note that the fluid was very clear with no milk or sediments. I was surprised, given the age of this tractor.

Thanks for your help and guidance. You are a very valuable resource.
