I have a 1949 pony serial # PGA 1996. When i take the lower bolts off the front plate the brake rod goes into oil starts dumping out is this normal and is it pretty easy to figure out how the brakes go together? I haven't gotten new pads yet.

Chris,

If you have oil in your brake housings you will need new seals. That oil is leaking through from your transmission/gear housing. There is a drain hole in the bottom of the brake housing, but they usually get clogged. I am currently restoring a 1948 Massey-Harris Pony and I had the same trouble. If you find a place to get these seals and brake pads please let me know. My email address is NJP03@hotmail.com. Feel free to email me with any other questions, I am 95% through my Pony.

Nate
