Does anyone know of a good alternator to use on a TO-35 Diesel. I would like to convert the generator to an alternator with an internal regulator if possible. Thanks, Andy

A delco 10SI works very well for what you want to do. They also have 1 wire alternators but the problem with them is you have to get the RPM up to max before they will start to charge. Last 1 wire I got had a 2000RPM cut in RPM which is to high for a tractor engine. The 10SI take one wire to go to the battery one wire to the switch and 1 wire goes back to where you hook the wire going to the battery. If you want to know more on how to wire it just ask or drop me an e-mail

Would you mind e-mailing me some instructions on how to wire this alternator on a MF-35 gas engine?
I would like to convert from a generator to a alternator but Im not sure how to wire it. Where can I buy his Delco 10SI alternator at? Thanks for the help.

If you buy from an independent rebuilder, he (or she) can put in a self exciting regulator. This means only one wire to hook up plus the main one to the battery. Very easy to do.

Roly is right , just had mine rebuilt because the mounting ear broke, and the "person" put in a regulator that took care of exciting the alt .

The favourite among old boat enthusiasts is the small GM Delco alternator. It's uncomplicated and produces about 45 Amps. It has an internal regulator and is readily available new, rebuilt or used.
