I've just been looking back though various posts and can see that multi power can cause problems. The 165 I've just purchased has this feature and at the moment it's stuck in what I believe is the 'Hi' position, that being the up position. Someone mentioned about testing it on a slope, by depressing the clutch and seeing if you roll back or not. I assume this test is done whilst in a normal gear selection, ie, travelling as normal then disengaging the clutch, is that correct?.

If you get it on a slight grade, say going uphill in low gear, push in the clutch just far enough to disengage the transmission. If it rolls backwards, it's in low. If it doesn't roll backwards, it's in hi.

If you push the clutch all the way to the floor, it should go ahead and roll backwards regardless.

Just drive 'bout anywhere that has a slight grade and stop.

If it's hard to shift gears, you're most likely in high range. If you have a bigger hill try driving down it. If the tractor takes off like a raped ape you are in low... If you have engine braking, you're in high.

If the multi-power doesn't get used now and then, it gets stuck.... or there's an outside chance something has broken inside or is out of adjustment.
