Looking at a 35 that runs real nice the guy wants 3k for it. I now hear the blocks leak coolant inside and they are a problem. Is this something to steer clear of ?

To answer your ? about the motors, I dont believe there is a problem if knowlegable people work on them, but if you get a bad mechanic , big trouble.

Boy I wish I could find 35's that cheap around here. Attended a sale on sat. 1967 135 perkins diesel. 2200 hours, nice straight sheet metal and overall in real good shape. The rear tires had dry rot and it had a allied loader. Power steering. Went for 6900 cdn. Go to lots of sales and have never seen one go for less than 4000 even if it needed work. Rick.

coolant problem could be piston liners leaking at the o rings.good quality stop leak may cure it or otherwise you may need to tear down engine and replace seals.

CVCMAN, The Ferguson 35 are great tractors and hold up good. I just removed the head on mine because I was having a noise in the engine but it turned out to be a worn rod bearing. The head and engine looked good. You may be thinking of the Ferguson TO 20 or TO 30 engines. I think they had some of the problems you mentioned. I think the tractors are worth that price but they usually bring around $2000-$2500 unless really restored.
later, Jerry

Here in Texas an average 35 will run anywhere from $2,000 to $3,000. As far as the gas engine. I have been using one to mow paster land for about five years. No problems what so ever. These tractors will work rings around an 8N or 9N. More gears and a better motor. At least that is my opinion.

That price isn't at all out of line around here for a 35 in good condition.

The stuff about the engine/coolant problems is BS.

I used one for a year, only to rake hay with, but tuned it up, changed oil, ran OK.

I would not ever pay that kind of money. I would say around $1800 - $2000 in these parts, minus unknown head problem, about $800 - $1100 in these parts. Western NY

MF 35 $$ Re:Ferguson 35 gas motor are these motors in reply to cvcman, 04-02-2006 18:52:46
I bought a MF 35 Deluxe Diesel P3-152AD w/Axel lock running good, Minor tinker work needed, but drove it off the trailer to the field, 20% tires 5 months ago $1500, with implements. in PNW. Those Ford N series are over priced here too. PS I dont buy gas tractors to use anymore. Fuel costs to high. Keep looking or get a better price! There are deals out there everywhere. It just takes more effort to find.
