The MF 50 was replaced by the 150 in 1965. You may have a gummed up control valve.

Bob, You mentioned that your tractor is a '68 Diesel. Is it a MF-50 or is it a MF 150? Does it have auxiliary remotes (check on the right hand side of the lift cover there should be either a plate or a box with a lever on to lift and lower the cylinders).

I would highly recommend getting all the manuals, Operators, Service and Parts Manual (from either e-bay or AGCO) and skip the I&T Manuals or use all four of them in concert.

If you have remotes, you may have to flip a little lever, depending on what unit you have, if its not the MF diverter valve to control the Three Point.

TO35 MF35 F40 MH50 MF50 and MF65 hydraulic troubleshooting 1. Put the pto in engine speed try to lift something when the lift stop lifting check to see if the pto also stops turning if it does you have a pto clutch problem. It is what turns the three point pump. 2. The next thing to check is the standpipe O-rings. You do that by removing the transfer cap. and the standpipe it has an O-ring on each end. If the O-rings are both there then that is not your problem replace the standpipe and transfer cap. be sure you get the standpipe back in the hole in the pump where it goes. 3. Drain the oil down to just below the bottom bolt hole for the access plate. Remove the access plate on the right side of the rear center housing it is the plate with the dipstick in it. Try to lift something with the lift and look inside to see if you have oil running down from the top. If you do you have a lift cylinder problem. if not that 4. With the engine running the draft lever in the lowering position move the position on the quadrant to raise the lift watch the vertical lever hanging down from the top to see if it moves the pump control lever (the pump control lever is the one with the roller in it). if it dose not move the pump control lever then try to move the pump control lever toward the rear that should make the lift come up. 5. Look around the right rear corner of the pump for heavy turbulence. If heavy turbulence are present there then you have a relief valve bad. If not that. 6. It is probably the pump control valve or something else in the pump is bad. The pump has to be removed to check it. 7. If it is the steps 3 through 6 to make repairs to those thing the liftcover has to be removed to make the repairs to them.

Get a manual, at least one of the I&T ones. Find Big Dean on this site and ask him. He responds to lots of questions. I had a leaking hydraulic relief valve on a MF-50. You may also have something stuck in the valve or maybe a pump needs a rebuild.

Dit the problem develop suddenly or did the 3-point performance get worse and worse over a longer time? There is also a Chuck from Minnesota on this site, he is knowlegeable.
