I keep a regular eye on fluid levels and found the Transmission / Hyd sump low (ie below low mark) this dip stick is on the RH side of transmission and is part of response setting lever. I checked my Workshop Manual (original MF) which nominated 9 gals (30Lts in Oz). Checked web for recommended oil settled on Shell Havella T, based on price and availability.
I drained the system and after much searching found the fill point under seat on left hand side. Then proceeded to fill with correct quantity. Now when I check, the dipstick shows it is significantly over full mark on dipstick.

Am I missing something, are there actually two systems with a combined capacity of 30Lts. Any comment would be appreciated.

There's TWO drain plugs on that tractor. One below the tranny, one below the rear end. If you don't remove BOTH, you leave a couple gallons in the rear case.

Also, I've ran onto a couple old Fergies where there was so much sludge and dirt in the rear end, it took up the space of a couple gallons. Filled by the numbers, they were significantly OVER-FILLED.

Did you catch the old oil in something? How much did you drain out? If it was close to full before, you should have drained equal amount to what you'll be putting back in IF you got it all out.

Thanks for (quick)reply
I only drained from front plug, collected oil which totalled approx 18Lts (about 5 US gal). Assuming the initial low oil level might have indicated 1 to 2 gal down, then there would have been 1 to 2 gal contained by the other plug. (NB My initial message stated 9 gals it should have read 8 gals).
I have front under axle blade with remotes up/down which has some minor leaks which add up over time.
