Hi everyone, In an attempt to try and get my tractor working again today I tried to replace the safety switch and I got the old one out and started to bolt the new one into the socket when it sheared.

How can I get the piece in the transmission case out? For the first time, my AGCO/M-F Dealer didn't know what to do for me when I went and showed them the switch I had just bought from them three days earlier.

THanks,

Christos

I forgot to mention its a 135 Gas. Could I get away with a set of vice grips on it?

Hi Christos,
Perhaps a bit late to tell you now that it should be little more than handtight. A lot will depend whether you have a cab on the tractor. If not and depending on the model, you should be able to gain access by removing the bonnet and possibly the battery tray if it is a 135. On other 100's it might be necessary to remove the steering box. I assume that it has sheared flush with the top of the casing. If the spring and plunger have been removed it should be possible to jam a chisel or something ground to size with sharp edges into the base of the switch and unscrew it. Failing that try a very small chisel and try to tap the remains in the direction to unscrew it. A stud extractor would be of little use as you do not have the depth for it to bite. Last resorts, a LH bottoming thread tap of the exact size to try to cut a thread in the hopes that it will undo first. Second cut two slots opposite eachother with a hacksaw blade and then close the sides inward.
Try and block the bole at the bottom to prevent swarf ingress. If you have to do it this way it will be a long and laborious job and will surely test your patience. Good luck.
