Hi, Looking for information on recharging the A/C on my MF285. How much 134 does it take and which one of the two ports on the back of the compressor is the low side? Are these the only 2 ports in the system? Thanks for your help. Bill

If possible you need to findout ir AC has R12, R134 or some other subsitute refrigerant and type of oil(mineral, ester, PAG). Mixing refrigerants or oil will result in reduce cooling and maybe compressor failure. Also, if system is low on refrigerant there is a leak somewhere.

Has it been switched to 134a? If so the ports are different sizes, the filler connection for 134a will only fit on one of the ports. Is it working now and just needs a top=off? Has it lost all pressure, if so may need a vacum pulled, and even a new dryer installed. As to how much 134a, you will need to use a guage and fill it to recommended pressure. If it needs more than one can, then it probably needs some oil added. You can get a can or refrigerant that has 134a and sealer and ester oil all mixed together. Tom
