Brother in law says he knows a local guy that"s a straight shooter, looking to sell his MF 3660.

I just hung up with the guy and can"t see tractor for a week or so, guy"s going out of town.

Just wondering what it might be worth?

MF 3660, 4wd, cab w/working a/c, new tires. My BIL said he thought it had something like 2,500 hours on it but that"s unverified.

Anywhere I can find some info on this machine? It"s intended use (for me) would be strictly batwing mowing. We"ve got anywhere from 125 to 150 acres of fields, many on hills.

My understanding is, the guy"s starting price is about $20,000

Do I run to see machine, or do I run other way?

Thanks for any thoughts

I have a sheet of literature on the 3600 series.
The 3660 shows up @ 140 HP. Powered by the Perkins
1000 series, 365 cu.in. Most of us former MF dealers long ago wanted to forget about the 2000
series and these were a breath of fresh air.

The Massey Ferguson 3600 series tractors were and still are very good designed tractors. They had a Valmet engine in the bigger 3680 and 3690 tractors while the smaller tractors...the 3650, 3660, and I think the 3670 had a Perkins which were good engines. I think the 3660 was rated at 125hp and when you add front wheel assist that makes it a real versatile tractor for lots of jobs. Some of the late models had a 32 speeds forward and 32 speeds reverse transmission with four powershifts in each range....they called the transmission a Dynashift. These tractors were the last series of tractors designed by Massey before AGCO bought them out.....Have talked to my dealer about them before and they said they never see them back after the sale??? At 20,000 dollars if its in perfect condition with those few of hours you better jump on it....fast Good luck

Wow, I'll take those to infer that 20K is at minimum reasonable (presuming sound machine).

Might I ask you this (or others who care to chime in?)

Is this otherwise, a "good" machine as far as design goes?

Reason I ask is I once looked at I think a 2,000 model (forget number) that had some kind of fancy transmission. Seems the transmissions were badly designed or built and that 2000 series was considered a bad design. (although that V-8 Perkins it had sounded cool!!)

Back to point, is the 3660 in general, considered a workhorse?
